He was born in 1946 in Bonn. After his legal examinations he joined the Company AEG-Telefunken in 1972. At the age of 31 he was promoted as the youngest executive. He worked until end of 1982 for that Company in different positions at last as head of the legal department and administration of subsidiaries department of the complete consumer division. The sales of that division were in 1980 5 Billion DM. In 1982 he was appointed Vice-President (Prokurist) of AEG-Telefunken Hausgeräte AG. During this time he has been involved in all kinds of business and corporate law incl. restructurings, purchase and sale of companies, merging etc). In 1983 he started his own law office. He has worked as attorney (Rechtsanwalt) since 1974.

 

Since then he continued to work as lawyer for many companies especially as a corporate lawyer. In 1990 the ministry of justice of the state of Hessen appointed him as notary. His special field is the complete range of business, labour and corporate law.

He was born in 1972 in Frankfurt am Main. After high school he joined the German army. Then he studied law at the university in Bonn where he graduated in 1998. He joined the Law office on a part time basis in 1998. From 1998 to 2001 he has been working as a junior lawyer at the district court of Frankfurt am Main. He was appointed as lawyer in 2001. Since 2003 he became a partner of the law office. His special fields are corporate, commercial and real estate law.

 

Since then he continued to work as lawyer for many companies especially as a corporate lawyer as well in Germany as abroad with focus on the Asian markets, such as Japan and China. In June 2010 the ministry of justice of the state of Hessen appointed him as notary.

               

Werner Blumenthal speaks and negotiates in English and French and has knowledge of Japanese language. He is married and has a son.

Dr. Markus Thier, M.A.

Born in 1977 in Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe. Markus Thier graduated in Law and Japanese Studies from the Goethe University in 2004 (1st Legal State Examination) and 2005 (MA in Japanese Studies). He stayed three months in a patent and law office in Tokyo during his legal clerkship. After taking the 2nd Legal State Examination, Markus Thier founded his own law office in Maintal in 2010. Further, he was a research assistant and doctoral student associated with the Chair of Japanese Law and its Cultural Foundations (Prof. Dr. Moritz Bälz, LL.M.) at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he also hold a class on Japanese law. Between 2009-2012 he was co-editoral assistance of the Journal of Japanese Law (J.Japan.L.) which is jointly published by the German-Japanese Association of Jurists (DJJV) and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (MPI) in Hamburg. In spring 2011, he stayed as PhD student and predoctoral fellow of the Max Weber Foundation at the Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien (DIJ) in Tokyo. He completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Law at Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main. The dissertation on Japanese insider law was published in 2016.

Markus Thier joined the law office in May 2013. His main areas of practice are corporate law, commercial law, and international private law. Markus Thier speaks English and Japanese. He is married and has a son and a daughter.
